July

Our July birthstone suggestion is sapphire. Its name comes from Greek and means ‘blue stone’. It is usually blue in color, but it also comes in yellow, pink, orange, and even gray and black. Natural sapphire is one of two varieties of corundum (the other is ruby), which is why pink sapphire is sometimes classified as a ruby.

Sapphire is best known for its blue color, and as with other gemstones, the purity of the hue, saturation, and tone are important.

Interesting varieties of sapphires are:

– pink ones – the more saturated the color – the more expensive they are,

– two-tone – rarely used in jewelry,

–            padparadscha – the rarest sapphires, with an orange color,

– Star sapphires – have mineral inclusions that cause the visual effect of asterism.

–          Color-changing sapphires – the same very rare types that change their colors in light – an effect known as metamerism.

Sapphires are often associated with fidelity, truth, and wisdom. They are traditionally associated with the 45th wedding anniversary, known as the “sapphire anniversary.” A gift of a ring, necklace, or bracelet with this stone is a perfect way to celebrate years of love and loyalty. Sapphire symbolizes the strength of the bond between two people.

Sapphires are becoming an increasingly popular choice for engagement rings, especially for couples looking for something different from the traditional diamond. Thanks to their durability and beauty, they are suitable for everyday wear and symbolize lasting love.

Achievements like graduation, a promotion at work, or another big win in life deserve to be celebrated with a stylish gift. Sapphire ring or other sapphire jewelry is a wonderful way to emphasize the importance of the moment and give a memory that will last a lifetime.
